My Story

My own career has been full of twists and turns. Most people’s experience isn’t a linear pathway that we’re led to believe it will be. After graduating I secured a highly sought-after job in a PR agency in London, schmoozing with journalists and clients and seeing my work in print on a regular basis. On the outside looking in, many thought I was ‘living the dream’. On the inside, however, I was in a very different place. Why was I so unhappy when I supposedly had a great graduate job? Looking back I can see that this was because it didn’t reflect who I was or my true values. I couldn’t see it at the time though – I remember calling in sick and wandering the streets of London, not having a clue where to turn and finding no one I could turn to.

It took me so long, trying to figure things out on my own, ‘hopping’ from one job to another. It wasn't until my mid-30s that I discovered what really made me tick - helping others. I started career coaching and guidance so that others wouldn't have to make that journey alone, so that they can have someone to walk alongside them as they overcome difficulties and navigate the twists and turns in their career.

What past clients have said

“I came to Georgie looking to change from a career that I felt trapped in. I was feeling overwhelmed about how to go about it. After only a few weeks, thanks to her relentless support and guidance, I am now doing a course I love and on track to a new career in HR. I couldn't have done any of it without her. She has changed my life!”

“We were very impressed with the advice offered by Georgie. My 15 year-old son was finishing school and needed to be certain he was taking the right pathway into college. The information provided by Georgie Blackburn Careers highlighted my son’s strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, pointing him in the right direction for both college and career opportunities! The assessments were very accurate and with Georgie’s knowledge and advice we are now confident that Tom is moving forward in the right direction! Thank you for all your assistance”

“A BIG bonus of the platform is having access to a coach. My coach Georgie was great from the start. From her help with being a sounding board for my ideas/goals, to providing practical support with mock interviews, and signposting me to relevant information. She also took the time to provide written feedback on an important document relevant to a new role I landed during the course of the programme.
If you are seriously looking to make a career change, desire a new job, or need to gain knowledge on digital marketing, it’s definitely a programme that can help you.”

“Although I had a rough idea of where I wanted to go with my change of career, Georgie drew out so much more detail with her questions which allowed me think more deeply about just where I wanted to go and how I would go about this. It's remarkable what can be achieved when a good coach asks the right questions and gives you the time and space to ponder and reflect; so much more can be achieved - and more quickly - than when you 'go it alone'.”
